Commenting on blogs can range from grey/white hat all the way to black SEO.

Posting comments on blogs is now standard practice, and for good reasons. The trick is to add value, engage in conversation, or fake it like a champ. Like most things, it needs to be done well to be effective.

Anyone reading this who has a blog they want to promote should regularly read other blogs and comment when appropriate.

For the name/site URL field when making the comment, use a keyword and the URL of the post you are promoting (or use main keywords and your homepage URL). It is often more effective to have the outgoing link back to your site from the name/URL fields and NOT as a text link in the comment body.

There are also much more aggressive approaches, they can work beautifully, and that's when things get black hat - like what you are suffering from.

Most of that kind of spam linking is generated by automatic tools that can comment on millions of blogs a day. Since you're running this blog on WordPress, I hope you have enabled Akismet- http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/akismet/

In case you haven't set it up with the API key, Google for a tutorial on how to do it, it's a simple process - http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sa=X&q=akismet+api+key+tutorial

Another nice Wordpress plugin is http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/avh-first-defense-against-spam/ as well.

Also consider to set your comments permission settings so tha t once a comment has been approved by you, any new comments from that same commenter are automatically approved - http://codex.wordpress.org/Combating_Comment_Spam#Pre-approve_Comments_from_Old_Commenters
